5 ways to improve field service administration

Field Service companies somehow tend to end up with lots of administration and paperwork. The administration team may like to know that there are ways your administration workload can become much more manageable. 

Whether you are tasked with inputting dockets into your system (which may also involve deciphering dodgy looking hand-writing, calling field service guys to find out where their dockets are and piecing together ripped scraps of paper), generating customer invoices, collecting cash and some job co-ordination and communications, then you will see below just how automation can really help you to get your job done much quicker and more efficiently. The dreaded cash collection calls. Each call usually results in a paper chase to locate dockets and other paper work. No credit control call is fast – each one can take a while to get all the bits and pieces together. There are always queries, maybe just delay tactics, but either way, it’s time spent collecting and gathering and not chasing. Just think if you didn’t have to gather information for each call? Just imagine that you have everything you need at your fingertips and before you even make the call, the customer will already have received a copy of the signed job sheet. Your cash collection will be fast and effective, so you should meet your credit control targets much quicker. Your popularity rating is going through the roof!


 4)    Customer Queries

When will your engineer/fitter be here? Although the administration tasks are time consuming, there are always lots of calls to check on the engineer arrival time, the status of their job etc. A little bit of technology can go a long way to knocking these problems on the head and prevent a never-ending see-saw of calls back and forth between the field service guys (and girls) and the customers.


 5)     Accuracy Improved

Having an efficient process in place means that the administration team won’t have to waste time chasing paperwork and re-doing tasks over and over. With a proper system in place, jobs are done once, accurately. Having a centralised place for all of your job and administration details means that information just flows along through the system without any unnecessary hair pulling!
